Tennis: Huey and Inglot fall to giant-slayers Butorac and Klaasen

Filipino-American Treat Huey was unable to make history by becoming the first Filipino to reach the semifinals of a grand slam tennis event, as he and his partner Dominic Inglot lost to the pair of Eric Butorac and Raven Klaasen in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Australian Open, 7-6 6-7 6-4, Tuesday at Show Court 2.

Butorac and Klaasen became big names in the tourney after dethroning the top-ranked doubles pair of Bob and Mike Bryan in the third round.

Huey and Great Britian’s Inglot first dispatched the unseeded pair of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah Maksoud 4-6 6-4 6-3 last Wednesday.

They also needed three sets to dispatch the Italian duo of Andreas Seppi and Potito Starace 6-3 6-7 6-1, before sweeping India’s Rohan Bopanna and Pakistani Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi 6-4 7-6.  - AMD, GMA News
