Film Movement has picked up U.S. rights to A Thousand Times Good Night, Erik Poppe‘s drama starring Juliette Binoche and Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Pacific Northwest Pictures bought the movie for Canada.
German group Global Screen is handling world sales on the film in which Binoche plays a war photographer struggling to balance her job with the demands of family life. The story is loosely based on director Poppe’s experiences as a war photographer.
A Thousand Times Good Night has been a strong seller, with Global Screen closing multiple deals at Berlin’s European Film Market last week, including sales for Japan (Kadokawa Corporation), Australia (Regency Film), Latin America (HBO) and Turkey (Yeni Bir Film) among others. Several other territories, including the U.K, Spain and China were sold previous to the Berlin market.
A Thousand Times Goodnight co-stars Maria Doyle Kennedy, newcomer Lauryn Canny and Larry Mullen Jr., best known as drummer for Irish rock band U2.
Film Movement plans a platform theatrical bow in the third quarter of this year, followed by a VOD and home video release.
