SACRAMENTO-
Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services will host a Tuberculosis screening in August for students and staff returning to Grant Union High School who have not been tested.
According to Public Health Officer Dr. Olivia Kasirye said all exposure to TB at Grant Union happened before March, and that only one of four students diagnosed with the disease was deemed infectious.
TB is spread through the air, not through physical contact, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Symptoms include a bad cough, chest pain, coughing up blood, fever and loss of appetite. For more information from the CDC, click here.
Those who wish to be tested for TB are urged to contact their health provider.
Results of the screening at Grant Union will be provided confidentially by the school.
