FAIRFIELD-
Fairfield City Council members Catherine Moy and John Mraz have a step-by-step plan to help drop the city’s violent crime rate, including expanding an existing gang injunction.
Cops in the city have seen gangs, guns, drugs and murders in several neighborhoods like Grande Circle over the years.
“At night, it’s a whole different thing cause you have to walk around, watch your back because you never, ever known who’s gonna pop out on you and do anything,” neighbor Marquis said.
Residents have decided that enough is enough.
“Shootings in the City of Fairfield, are up 222%, over last year during this time,” Moy said.
The city’s expanded gang injunction would include two more gangs, and Moy says police are doing the best they can on limited resources.
“Arrests are up 78 percent,” she said.
