American Idol‘s top 10 singers were revealed on Thursday night, following the contestants’ best renditions of movie songs the night before.

While the “Music of the Movies” theme night brought audiences from musicals Dreamgirls and Frozen to big-screen hits Skyfall and Twilight, not all of their covers were necessarily blockbusters. And whoever barely misses the top 10 is not only eliminated from the competition, but will also be left out of the upcoming Idol tour.
But before revealing who would be sent home, judge Harry Connick, Jr. took the stage to sing “One Fine Thing” and “Come By Me,” crooning into the microphone while tickling the ivory with a big band behind him. Hip-hop musician Mali Music also performed his track “Beautiful.”
After the nationwide super vote, Ryan Seacrest revealed that Majesty Rose (Frozen’s “Let It Go”), Ben Briley (Elton John’s “Bennie and the Jets”) and Sam Woolf (The Beatles’ “Come Together,”) were in the bottom three.
“It doesn’t make sense to me, based on the performances last night,” said Jennifer Lopez of the results. “I think America was responding to what they saw.” Nevertheless, Woolf and Rose were then announced as safe (Rose by only a 0.7 percent difference in votes), leaving Briley to sing “Stars” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals for the judges’ save.
“Ben, we’ve loved your voice from day one, but what we’ve got to see is this sort of artistic growth, and we don’t collectively feel we’ve necessarily seen that as much as we wish we have at this stage,” said Keith Urban, as Briley was sent home.
What do you think of the latest elimination? Should someone else have been sent home instead? Sound off in the comments below, Idol Worshippers!
