Lily Tomlin ended 2013 by making a lifelong commitment to her longtime partner, Jane Wagner.
The couple was married in a small ceremony on New Year’s Eve at a Los Angeles location, Tomlin’s publicist Jeff Abraham confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday.

Tomlin, 74, and Wagner, 78, wed after 42 years together, and their long relationship has included sharing Emmy Awards in 1974, 1976 and 1981 for their work on comedy variety TV programs.
Chicago Tribune columnist Liz Smith was one of the first people to offer up her congratulations, writing: “My longtime friends, Lily Tomlin and her love, the writer Jane Wagner, got married on the eve of 2014.
“My wish is that their happiness will be as great as their combined talents.”

Tomlin previously hinted at her desire to marry following the historic U.S. Supreme Court ruling in June 2013 striking down the Defense of Marriage Act and legalizing same-sex marriage.
“Jane and I have been together for 42 years,” she told E! Online in August. “We’re thinking maybe we’ll get married,” she added, calling the ruling “pretty remarkable.
“You don’t really need to get married, but marriage is awfully nice,” Tomlin went on to say. “Everybody I know who got married, they say it really makes a difference. They feel very very happy about it.”

No further details of the ceremony have been released and Tomlin is not issuing a statement, Abraham told THR.
