Britta Meyermann has left international sales outfit Global Screen to join Munich-based production house Odeon Film in a newly created position as head of international co-production.
Reporting directly to Odeon CEO Mischa Hofmann, Meyermann will be charged with setting up and running the new division, which will focus on the development and co-production of TV series and feature films for the international market.
Odeon is one of Germany’s largest production companies, but the vast majority of its work has been in German-language TV. Some of its best-known productions include the culture-class sitcom Turkish for Beginners, winner of the Banff festival’s Rocky Award; and the long-running crime series A Case for Two, which has been on the air in Germany since 1981. The group also has produced a handful of feature films, including local-language sleeper Summer in Orange (2011) and English-language dramas John Rabe (2009) and Buffalo Soldiers (2001).
