Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies respond to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Thursday night

NORTH HIGHLANDS-

The suspect in a deadly store robbery turned up at an area hospital, where officers arrested him.

Thursday night, an armed man walked into O’Reilly Auto Parts along Elkhorn Boulevard in North Highlands. As was reported on FOX40 News, the man ordered employees into a back room and fired off a shot during the attempted robbery, killing an employee.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies now say that employee tried to stop the suspect by stabbing him with a knife. That prompted the suspect to fire his gun and leave the store.

The employee was taken to the hospital, but died from his injuries.

The suspect also made his way to a hospital, and deputies were alerted. Detectives were able to determine the stabbed man in the hospital was responsible for the auto parts store attempted robbery.

Deputies will book the suspect into jail and release his name once his medical treatment is done.
