SACRAMENTO-

The new home of the Kings arena has been under construction for nearly three weeks, and already, crews have excavated thousands of tons of concrete and metal from the Downtown Plaza.

Project manager Gary Ralls said that crews will not be blasting or using a wrecking ball to bring down the buildings; they’ll be using a massive excavator.

Some of the material from the Downtown Plaza may also be used in the building of the new arena.

Ralls hopes to finish gutting the mall by October.

Steel for the new arena will likely go up in February.
