AUBURN-

A dramatic rescue in the mountains above Auburn, and it was caught on camera.

Video from the CHP Air Operations shows Michael Gnafakis being put into a hoist, and lifted into the air to be taken to a hospital.

Gnafakis was biking along the Upper Lake Clementine Trail Wednesday morning when he crashed in a remote location.

The Citrus Heights man was biking by himself, but was able to call 911 for help.

The rescue helicopter found him within 15 minutes, then directed CalFire crews to him on the ground.

The chopper hoisted him out of the area, and he was transferred to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Officials say Gnafakis was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and that if he wasn’t, the injuries could have been much more serious.
