CANNES – IM Global has come on board to handle international sales for Gravity screenwriter Jonas Cuaron‘s directorial project Forsaken.
IM Global will launch international sales of the thriller in Cannes, founder and CEO Stuart Ford and producer Alex Garcia announced Tuesday.
STORY: Jeffrey Dean Morgan to Star in Jonas Cuaron’s ‘Desierto’
Gael Garcia Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan star in the thriller, which was previously called Desierto. Forsaken, which is a working title, follows a man (Bernal) who travels with a group of immigrants through an unguarded section of the Sonoran desert trying to cross into the U.S. when suddenly, a shot rings out — they fall into the sights of Sam (Morgan), a deranged vigilante who is taking border laws into his own hands, shooting the immigrants one by one. A sinister cat-and-mouse chase begins, set against the backdrop of this brutal yet beautiful landscape.
Cuaron, who co-wrote space drama Gravity with his father, director Alfonso Cuaron (who won the best director Oscar for the film), wrote the script for Forsaken with Mateo Garcia. Alfonso Cuaron is producing Forsaken along with Carlos Cuaron, Charles Gillibert and Alex Garcia.
David Linde of Lava Bear Films, Bernal, Frederique Dumas-Zajdela, Nicolas Celis, and Santiago Garcia Galvan will serve as executive producers.
The deal was negotiated by Jonathan Deckter of IM Global, David Linde and David Boyle, on behalf of the filmmakers.
Alfonso, Jonas and Carlos Cuaron are repped by UTA and attorney Henry Holmes.
