NEW YORK CITY (CNN)-

A suspected sex offender recently featured on CNN’s “The Hunt” with John Walsh was killed Monday in Manhattan while police were attempting to arrest him on child molestation charges, according to two New York City law enforcement sources.

Two U.S. Marshals and a New York City police officer were also wounded during the attempted arrest, a law enforcement official said.

Charles Mozdir, 32, had been sought by authorities since June 2012 for accusations out of San Diego County.

The wounded officers — all of whom were part of a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force — were transported to Bellevue Hospital, New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said their injuries appear to be non-life-threatening.

Mozdir eluded officials in San Diego County where he was wanted for allegedly sexually abusing a young boy. He was arrested for the 2012 incident, and posted bail, but failed to show up for a court appearance. A $1 million warrant was issued. Coronado Police stated on their Facebook page that shortly after his disappearance, his car was found abandoned in Georgia.

He also faces accusations of abusing another child while babysitting, and investigators feared he may have more victims.
