LOS BAÑOS-

California sea lions can be found pretty much anywhere up and down the pacific coast, but according to The Marine Mammal Center, one little pup was found much further inland.

A person in Los Baños found the sea lion over 100 miles away from his ocean home and reported it to The Marine Mammal Center, who dispatched a rescue team on March 31.

The person who found him gave him the name “Hoppie,” and he is currently recovering at The Marine Mammal Center.

The pup showed up very hungry and thin, so before he can be released back into the wild he needs to gain a healthy amount of weight. His animal care experts say he is eating well.

Greg Cotta filed this report.
