Former Principato-Young managers Cameron Kadison, Diane Perez and Antranig Balian are teaming for new management company Mortar Media.
The Beverly Hills-based company, which opened this month, focuses on nonscripted TV, branded content, on-camera talent and non-traditional business development.
Mortar Media comes two years after the trio launched the alternative television division at Principato-Young. The two companies will continue their relationship on several upcoming projects. Mortar’s roster includes more than 50 clients, ranging from personalities, corporate brands, producers and production companies. The team is currently responsible for packaging and producing projects that are in development at a number of cable networks and digital platforms.
“We believe that as the entertainment industry changes, so does the basic core principles for talent. As cable television, social media and user-generated content evolve in today’s current media, the power has shifted away from the traditional acting roles and into real-life characters creating a personal brand that extends beyond the screen,” the trio said in a statement. “Our clients have the necessary authenticity and credibility with both the general public and brands to effectively communicate messages and generate profits.”
Clients moving to Mortar include Richard Rawlings (Discovery’s Fast N Loud), Angie Martinez (Hot97, Extra), Showtime Eric Young (Animal Planet’s Extreme Catches, TNA Impact Wrestling), Dave Dameshek (NFL Network, Jimmy Kimmel Live) as well as producers Creature Films (Behind the Music, Laguna Beach), Morning Dew Pictures (The Real Housewives of Miami), Jack Tarantino (The Real Housewives of Orange County) and more.
Before launching the division at Principato-Young, Kadison was a TV packaging agent at WME and Paradigm specializing in production companies, showrunners and on-camera personalities. Perez started at WME in the commercial and endorsement departments before moving to CESD and then becoming a traditional talent manager. Balian began his career as a trial attorney and earned an MBA with an emphasis on marketing, branding and advertising before beginning in the entertainment industry as a talent manager at Generate.
