TBS is returning to Ground Floor.
The Turner-owned cable network has renewed the Bill Lawrence comedy starring Pitch Perfect‘s Skylar Astin for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. TBS has ordered 10 new episodes, with production on season two set to begin in late 2014.
Ground Floor is one of four TBS series that ranked among basic cable’s top 10 original sitcoms among adults 18-49 in 2013. The series averaged 1.8 million total viewers, including DVR viewing, during its first run, with 1.1 million among the key demo and 575,000 among adults 18-34.
From Warner Horizon Television, Lawrence (Cougar Town, Scrubs) created the series with Greg Malins (2 Broke Girls). Astin and Scrubs alum John C. McGinley star in the workplace comedy that’s exec produced by Lawrence and his Doozer banner, Jeff Ingold and Jeff Astrof.
The Ground Floor renewal continues Lawrence’s recent hot streak. The producer this year has four series on the air, including Fox’s Christopher Meloni comedy Surviving Jack and NBC’s upcoming half-hour Undateable as well as TBS’ Cougar Town, though Lawrence stepped down as showrunner on the latter when the series moved from ABC.
For TBS, Ground Floor joins a scripted lineup that includes the fifth season of Cougar Town, Sullivan & Son, Men at Work and American Dad, which will move over from Fox for its 11th season.
