The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and the Hollywood Post Alliance are moving toward a closer relationship that will lead to an eventual combination.
At the Entertainment Technology in the Internet Age conference today at Stanford University, SMPTE announced that it has reached an agreement with the HPA to provide administrative support for the Hollywood-based trade association. In addition to the agreement, under which SMPTE headquarters will effectively administer the organizational support for the HPA, the boards of both organizations have endorsed a roadmap that will lead to an eventual combination in which HPA will become consolidated within SMPTE as a separate affiliate organization.
