HBO‘s rock ‘n’ roll drama is getting crowded. The untitled drama pilot from Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter has added eight more actors — including Mick’s son, actor James Jagger.
The 28-year-old is joined by fellow additions P.J. Byrne, Joe Caniano, Andrew Dice Clay, Ato Essandoh, Robert Funaro, Birgitte Sorensen and J.C. Mackenzie. They join previously set stars Bobby Cannavale, Olivia Wilde, Juno Temple, Max Casella, Jack Quaid and Ray Romano.

The still-untitled project has been in the works for some time. It follows record executive Richie Finestra (Cannavale) as he navigates the music scene of 1970s New York City, trying to resurrect his label with the next big thing while navigating the world of sex and drugs that go hand-in-hand with the onset of punk and disco.
The ever-growing cast is just a small part of the project’s lengthy roster. In addition to Scorsese, Jagger and Winter, George Mastras, Victoria Pearman, Emma Tillinger Koskoff and Rick Yorn are all on board as executive producers. Scorsese is attached to direct the pilot, reteaming with Boardwalk Empire‘s Winter, who is writing.
As for whom the latest castmembers will be playing, many of the parts expand the world outside of focal point American Century Records.

The young Jagger will be channeling his father’s musical roots, albeit in a different genre. He’s playing Kip Stevens, lead singer of punk band Nasty Bits. Caniano, who’s been on Boardwalk Empire, will play Richie’s longtime chauffeur and confidante, Leo. As for Clay, the actor-comedian is on board as obnoxious, cocaine-addled radio station executive Frank “Buck” Rogers.
Sopranos alum Funaro gets back to his HBO roots as mob enforcer Tony Del Greco, and Essandoh plays a former singer and ex-colleague of Richie’s. The lone female addition in this round of casting, Sorensen, plays Ingrid — an Edie Sedgwick-esque favorite of Andy Warhol and a friend to Richie’s wife (Wilde).
Byrne and Mackenzie round out the staff of American Century, playing the head of legal and head of sales, respectively.
Production on the pilot is now underway in New York.
