Breaking Bad was the big winner of the 2014 Emmy Awards — the series dominated both the drama categories onstage at the Nokia Theatre and the conversations on social media platforms on Monday night.
Of the 6.2 million Facebook users who had 10.9 million Emmy-related interactions on the platform — a jump from the 4.8 million people who had 7.1 million interactions related to the awards show last year — three of the five spikes during the telecast were triggered by the beloved AMC drama. (Even more so, Breaking Bad production state New Mexico was chatting most about the Emmys, followed by Washington, D.C., New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island).
The biggest moment of the night came at the very end, when Breaking Bad won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series, followed by Bryan Cranston‘s fourth lead actor win. Other top moments of the ceremony were Billy Crystal‘s heartfelt In Memoriam tribute to the late Robin Williams, Aaron Paul‘s third supporting-actor statuette and Jim Parsons‘ fourth win for The Big Bang Theory.
On Twitter, 1.1 million Emmy-related tweets were published, reaching 8.8 million unique users — also a jump from last year’s 925,000 tweets to an audience of 8.3 million, according to Nielsen. Monday night’s show had 370,000 unique users tweeting about the broadcast, publishing tweets that were seen a total of 207.1 million times.
Host Seth Meyers was the most mentioned Emmy name, followed by the Emmy-winning, meth-cooking duo, Cranston and Paul.
