NBC is going back to Sweden.
The network has picked up import Welcome to Sweden for a second season of 10 episodes, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The news comes after the series, created by and starring Greg Poehler, already was picked up for a second season in Sweden on TV4. (A return date has not yet been determined.)
The 10-episode series, produced by Entertainment One, TV4, FLX and Syskon, has averaged a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 2.9 million total viewers in live plus same day returns. The comedy, which counts Amy Poehler among its exec producers and guest cast, opened to a 0.9 among the key demo and 3.5 million total viewers, becoming the second-highest-rated summer comedy debut among seven on the Big Four networks in the past five years. It trails only NBC’s recently renewed Undateable in the adult demo.

In renewing the series, NBC noted that Welcome to Sweden — based on Greg Poehler’s adventures in moving to Sweden for love — generates an upscale audience.
Welcome to Sweden was one of several original scripted series broadcast on NBC this summer as originals become more commonplace during the typically lower-rated season. Thus far, NBC has picked up drama Night Shift and Bill Lawrence‘s Undateable, while the jury is still out on Crossbones, Working the Engels and Canadian acquisition Taxi Brooklyn. On the unscripted side, NBC renewed the bulk of its summer lineup, including American Ninja Warrior, America’s Got Talent and Last Comic Standing.
