Tahoe Trips and Trails offers summer adventures

Panoramic vistas and the opportunity to climb 1,500 feet in elevation over a short distance are the biggest draws for adventure seekers from as close by as the San Francisco Bay Area and as far away as New York and Europe. Active adults who have a zest for adventure are looking for outdoor adventure concierge services and guided trips like those designed by Patty and Jeff Baird through Tahoe Trips and Trails and The Cedar House Sport Hotel.

“The Bairds inspire people to explore the exotic in Tahoe – from short and peaceful to physically demanding and epic,” shares Lisa Krueger, a recent Tahoe Trips & Trails adventurer.

“The majority of our guests have traveled around the world and love to spend time immersed in nature when taking a break from the office or creating meaningful retirement vacations. Our mission is to unveil remarkable experiences. With our trails, peaks and views, Tahoe is so much more than a skier’s playground,” shares Patty Baird who goes on to explain how she’s been prepping for the Inca Trail, one of her life list trips. Patty is training for the ascent to over 13,000 feet in Peru with high elevation hikes and overnights around Donner Summit and Lake Tahoe.

Her training experience led to the design of “Backpacking 101,” a three-day trip that is offered four times this July and August. Guests will discover the merits of ultra-light backpacking, test their fitness level at altitude and, on the last evening, celebrate with dinner at Stella (under the culinary care of nationally recognized chef Jacob Burton) and a night nestled in European linens at The Cedar House Sport Hotel, named the Lake Tahoe place to stay by Outside Magazine.

“We get the most out of any big adventure, such as trips to Kilimanjaro, Nepal, Machu Picchu, when we are physically at our prime or close to it. You will enjoy that dream adventure so much more if your body and mind are ready for the challenge,” shares Baird. In addition to Backpacking 101, Tahoe Trips and Trails summer 2014 trips include a six-day “Hikers Paradise” including a portion of the famed Pacific Crest Trail, a visit to Squaw Valley USA (home of the 1960 Winter Olympics) and a walk through the mountains made famous by the Donner Party.

“A lot of people simply prefer to sleep indoors with easy access to plumbing! We understand this and handcrafted ‘Hiker’s Paradise’ to offer the ultimate hiking experience by day and simple, delicious luxuries by night,” explains Baird. Guests can also trek in Yosemite, explore Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park, capture the beauty of geological wonders in Bryce Canyon and Havasu Falls and wake to the sun’s rays with Tahoe Trips and Trails.

“If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary or even want to prep for an international trek, join us at altitude,” invites Jeff Baird who spends almost every day on a trail whether it’s covered in dirt or snow. For those who simply cannot wait, self guided treks on the Pacific Crest Trail and Tahoe Rim Trail plus weekly Tahoe Teasers out of The Cedar House Sport Hotel are available this spring. Detailed itineraries and trip registration are available at TahoeTrips.com.
