WE tv is hoping to keep the conversation going with the launch of a new digital series.
Entitled In Between, the online-only series will serve as a bridge between seasons for the female-skewing cable network’s various unscripted properties, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The first to receive the In Between treatment will be SWV Reunited, a reality series chronicling the lives of Coko, Taj and LeLee of ’90s R&B group SWV: Sisters With Voices. Six episodes of SWV Reunited: In Between will begin rolling out each Thursday starting July 3 on WEtv.com leading up to the season-two return on Aug. 14. (THR exclusively debuts the first installment above.)

“When we created the concept, we thought it would be an effective way to keep our viewers connected to these stories in between seasons,” which WE tv president Marc Juris tells THR will “provide viewers with an onramp to what season two will be.”
Timing lined up perfectly with production on SWV Reunited, so naturally, it became the network’s “ideal first test.” It also helped that the series featured “strong characters” and “compelling stories,” Juris says. He is hoping to expand In Between to other series, but held off on naming the next WE tv show getting the supplemental treatment, emphasizing that “viewer feedback” will be crucial for their first go-around. “The [WE tv viewers] are very engaged and involved with our casts — with our WE tv family — and we want to keep them connected to the stars that they love.”
For WE tv, In Between serves as a logical next step as it seeks to extend the shelf life of shows while continuing to produce original content while properties are in between seasons. Added Juris: “We looked at everything from the fan perspective, what they would love and how can we use technology to deliver what they would love.”
In March, the network successfully launched WatchIt With, a twist on the traditional aftershow, which had Mary Mary stars and siblings Erica and Tina Campbell watching a rebroadcast of an episode, pausing at times to provide commentary, anecdotes and additional insight.
