Amazon Prime Instant Video on Wednesday unveiled a deal with the BBC to revive crime drama Ripper Street.
The e-tailer acquired U.K subscription streaming rights to the show, which stars Matthew Macfadyen and is set in the age of Jack the Ripper. The BBC had previously canceled Ripper Street amid weak ratings.

The show had a very vocal fan base, though, which helped bring it back. Ripper Street topped a U.K. poll as the best show of 2013.
Amazon will show the third season on Amazon Prime Instant Video for members, before its airing on BBC One, the pubcaster’s flagship channel, a few months later.
Amazon Prime Instant Video will also be the only subscription service in the U.K. where members can view the first two seasons of the show. All eight episodes of season one are available to stream on the service in the U.K. now.
BBC America, which has aired the first two series of Ripper Street in the U.S., will also carry the third season of the show.
Amazon’s move mirrors that of its rival Netflix, which revived and produced canceled cult Fox comedy Arrested Development in 2013.
