As game show champ Ken Jennings wrote recently in The Hollywood Reporter, “Nothing in TV lasts, but Jeopardy! is forever.”
Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek has now nabbed a bit of immortality. On Friday night, he claimed the Guinness World Record for “most game show episodes hosted by the same presenter.”
Trebek, who has presided over the show since 1984, has now hosted 6,829 episodes of Jeopardy!.

“This is special in the fact that I’ve been around for a long time, and I’ve had the good fortune to be associated with a good program like Jeopardy!,” Trebek said in a video accompanying the announcement.
Trebek then reiterated, “It also means that I’ve been around a long time.”
During a May THR interview, the 73-year-old host said that he’s sticking with his job as long as he’s able to. “I told audiences and interviewers in the past that I will stick with it as long as I’m having a good time and as long as I feel my skills haven’t diminished too much,” Trebek stated.
