FAIRFIELD-

Joshua Cooper, the 18-year-old Fairfield man man accused of biting of part of his infant son’s nose off, appeared before a judge Monday.

Friends and family waited outside the courthouse nearly an hour before the arrangement started.

“He’s too young to be in jail for the rest of his life if that’s what they’re trying to do,” James Luther, a friend of Cooper’s, told FOX40.

Cooper was charged with aggravated mayhem, child abuse and child endangerment. He said he’d hire his own lawyer, but after the court learned about his financial situation, they appointed a lawyer for him to get through the near future.

A conference between attorneys from both sides will take place March 27. A preliminary hearing will take place on April 1.
