The aftershow craze is still going strong.
Game Show Network’s body-painting competition series Skin Wars, premiering Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, is getting its very own postshow, which will be hosted by YouTube star and makeup expert Kandee Johnson, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Skin Wars is am eight-episode, one-hour competition show that seeks to find the most skilled, accomplished and versatile body painters in the country to win a $100,000 grand prize, a year-long supply of body paint and a featured guest artist at body-painting trade show IMATS. Rebecca Romijn hosts Skin Wars, with RuPaul, Craig Tracy and Robin Slonina serving as judges.
Weekly installments of Skin Wars: The Naked Truth will be produced and aired digitally on GSN‘s network, Door3, immediately after Skin Wars broadcasts on Wednesday nights from Aug. 6 to Sept. 24. This marks GSN’s first companion show to run on its digital network, which targets 18- to 25-year-olds.
“Skin Wars is an incredibly creative show,” said Johnson. “I can’t wait to share with our viewers these mind-blowing works of body art by some of the country’s most talented body painters!”
Each episode will have Johnson recap the show’s highlights while offering her perspective and opinion. There will also be a segment called “The Skinterview,” where Johnson will chat with Skin Wars contestants, judges and models.
Viewers of the aftershow will be tasked to guess the next contestant to be eliminated from the competition, with participants entered into an online sweepstakes for prizes.
Networks have increasingly relied on aftershows for their established franchises with notable fanbases to continue the conversation, such as The Walking Dead with Talking Dead, Breaking Bad with Talking Bad and Teen Wolf with Wolf Watch. FX announced in July that it would be bringing its supplemental Sons of Anarchy talk show, Anarchy Afterword, for the first time to TV during the final season.
