A mountain lion in captivity

WINTERS-

A mountain lion was spotted Friday morning in Winters, now people are being warned to keep an eye out for the big cat.

Winters Police says they were contacted about the mountain lion around 10 a.m. It was spotted in the area of Putah Creek, lying down between the fenced residential area and the walking path.

People are being asked to take precautions, and avoid the area if possible. The Department of Fish and Wildlife recommends when someone encounters a mountain lion, face the animal, make noise, and try to look bigger.

Wildlife officials are aware of the sighting and are investigating.
