Everest Base Camp Trek (EBC Trek) is the best-recommended trek in Nepal. EBC Trek is undoubtedly one of the most popular and visited trekking routes in Nepal. It is very crowded in peak season (March to May and October to November). The Everest Base Camp Trek is about an adventurous trail, the ancient cultural heritage of Sherpa, and magnificent and breathtaking high mountains, including Mount Everest. Our 15-day Everest Base Camp Trek package also gives opportunities to visit centuries-old monasteries and spectacular landscapes with their surreal natural beauty.

"Everest Base Camp Trek is an experiencing of remote high altitude lifestyle, testing your endurance and making lifelong memories witnessing Mount Everest and it's spectacular surrouding scenery."

You fly to Lukla airport, a small airstrip in the mountains. It is about 25 to 30 minutes of scenic and pleasant flight with a clear sky. You meet support teams and get ready for your legs to reach the base camp of the tallest mountain in the world. You walk through several villages, crossing big rivers by thrilling suspension bridges, to reach Namche Bazaar, a gateway to Mount Everest. You do an acclimatization hike the following day after you reach Namche Bazaar. The hike offers incredible views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and the spectacular landscape.

The following day, you trek to Tengboche Monastery. Tengboche Monastery is one of the biggest and most active monasteries in the Everest Trek. Then, continuously walking ups and downs through dense forests, mani walls, and villages, you reach EBC (5,364 m). It is a wonderful moment for everyone to reach Everest Base Camp, although Mount Everest is not visible. You hike Kalapathar in the early morning to see the sunrise, the massif face of Mt Everest, and the Khumbu ice-fall with glaciers. After achieving your goal to reach Everest Base Camp and Kalapathar, you safely return to Lukla and fly to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu - Lukla - Kathmandu Flight information

The flight to Lukla from Kathmandu is considered one of life's most thrilling experiences; however, the flight is safe. The flights are operated in the morning, and they operate every day. It is about a 25–30 minute scenic flight. The flights might get delayed or cancelled sometimes due to bad or unstable weather at Lukla Airport. In the case of a cancelled flight, the alternative option is a helicopter, but it is a little expensive. It probably costs between USD 450 and USD 600 per person.

Note: The flight to Lukla operates from Manthali Airport (Ramechhap) during the main season (March to April and October to November) due to congestion at Kathmandu Airport.

Namche Bazaar - A Gateway to Mount Everest

Anyone aware of Mt. Everest is no stranger to Namche Bazaar's "A Gateway to Mount Everest." It is located within the Khumbu area at 3,440 meters elevation, populating the sides of a hill. Most Sherpas who are in the tourism business are from the Namche area. Namche is the main trading centre and tourist hub with an army camp, a police checkpost, a bank, and a beauty salon.

Namche Bazaar is popular with trekkers in the Khumbu region, especially for altitude acclimatization. Namche Bazaar is the gateway to the high Himalayas. The town has many lodgings and stores catering to visitors and internet cafes. There are German bakeries, little cafes, and many restaurants. There is also an Irish pub, considered to be the remotest Irish pub in the world. There are many trekking shops, souvenir shops, and even a supermarket. On Saturday mornings, a weekly market is held in the centre of the village.

  • Incredible EBC Trek experience with Nepal Gateway Trekking

I can't express how incredible our experience with Nepal Gateway Trekking Pvt. Ltd. was. From the moment we set foot in Nepal, everyone at the company made our journey unforgettable.

Our group of six friends embarked on the Everest Base Camp Trek, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The team at Nepal Gateway Trekking was exceptional. They helped us choose the perfect trek, recommended charming accommodations along the way, and even assisted with transportation from Kathmandu's airport to our hotel, ensuring a seamless start and finish to our adventure.

Our EBC trek was beyond amazing. We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed every moment of it. While the journey could be challenging, our guides were our pillars of strength. They were vigilant about our well-being, both physically and emotionally, making every effort to ensure we had the best possible experience.

I must give a special shoutout to Bhabanath Adhikari, our trekking guide. He's not just an expert guide but also an exceptional human being. Patient, knowledgeable about the mountains and their conditions, and always attuned to our group's needs. He knew when to say "yam yam" (let's go) and when to take it "vistare vistare yam" (slowly but surely), when to refuel, rest, and have fun. Bhabanath's incredible network of friends along the trek is a testament to his remarkable character. It was heartwarming to see other guides greet him as we crossed paths, reaffirming that we were in the best hands.

Every evening, after dinner at our tea houses, Bhabanath Adhikari would treat each one of us to a head massage that worked wonders, banishing headaches and leaving us relaxed and ready for the next day's adventure.

I wholeheartedly recommend Bhabanath Adhikari and his team, including Dilip and Santos, for any trekking experience. Nepal Gateway Trekking, with their impeccable organization, deserves a solid 100% recommendation.

Rajendra Thapa, our liaison in Kathmandu, was simply fantastic. He not only suggested and organized incredible tours but also showed genuine warmth and hospitality. One of the highlights was touring Pashupatinath Temple together, an experience I cherished. The people behind Nepal Gateway Trekking exude positivity and good karma.

Thank you, Nepal Gateway Trekking, for an unforgettable journey filled with breathtaking scenery and incredible people. We can't wait to return!

  • At the age of 78, trek to Everest base camp

After having two new knees in 2007, my friend Jo and I decided to hire Raj of Nepal Gateway Trekking to take us first on a trek to Ghorepani  Poon Hill which we successfully completed in 2010, and then the next year we trekked to EBC.  Raj was the perfect guide and saw to all our needs, even supplying hot water bottles for our sleeping bags!!! It was a fantastic trek, and the tea houses were very comfortable, food good, but unfortunately, I lost my appetite, which lots of climbers do, due to altitude. I was 68 and Raj was very proud I completed the Everest Base Camp trek. After this, we spent 3 nights in Chitwan National Park which is thoroughly recommended. To say this was the end of my trekking would be a lie, as I completed 3 more treks with Raj, one to Gokyo Lakes, and the other two again to Mt. Everest Base Camp, although the last one, at the age of 78 got too much for me and I called it a day at Dingboche and my son carried on and finished the trek. Raj and my son, Paul, collected me on the way back down.
I thoroughly recommend Nepal Gateway Trekking for an enjoyable and safe trek.
