The principal of Twin Rivers Charter School in Yuba City has resigned and the assistant principal has been let go, according to a letter sent to the school's parents.
School board President Ronald Emy confirmed the actions on Friday but said he was prohibited by law from discussing the particulars of the personnel matters.
The letter was sent on Thursday to parents of the school at 840 Cooper Ave.
It states the resignation of Bob Loretelli was accepted by the board. It also states the board took action to terminate the employment of Assistant Principal Frank Cropper.
Both actions were effective Oct. 1.
Loretelli came to the school in 2008, as he explained in an US profile in the Appeal-Democrat. At the time, his son, Kyle, was on the Marysville Gold Sox.
"When Kyle was playing for the Gold Sox, the job at Twin Rivers opened up, and it was a job that I saw having a lot of potential. Everything was in place, and I wanted the challenge," Loretelli said in 2009.
The letter said the board will hire a temporary administrator/prinicipal until a permanent replacement is selected. It says that "one or more members of the (school board) will be onsite at the school when needed to assist staff with the day-to-day operations and to administer discipline."
Twin Rivers is a tuition-free charter school established in 2004.
