It may not have won Monday night, but CBS’ performance was one of the most interesting ratings stories to watch this week. After nearly a decade of leading the night with How I Met Your Mother at 8 p.m., the late comedy’s time slot was taken by 2 Broke Girls last night. And though 2 Broke Girls has seen its share of losses this season, its first performance without a lead-in was solid.
2 Broke Girls, averaging a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49, was within a tenth of a point of its last original. Friends With Better Lives (1.8 adults) took a predictably steep eight-tenths drop from its HIMYM-sampled series premiere, but Mike & Molly (2.1 adults) improved by a tenth of point at 9 p.m. The season finale of Mom (1.9 adults) shed three-tenths from the night of the HIMYM finale.

So while CBS may now lack strong ratings outlier of HIMYM, its other series lost little steam without it opening the night. CBS took an average 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers.
Leading the night, The Voice (3.3 adults) shed another two-tenths of a point on NBC for a Monday low for the season. Coupled with a Blacklist encore, NBC still won the night, averaging a 2.7 in the demo — coming in second with viewers (9.8 million).
A stable Dancing With the Stars (2.3 adults) improved by a tenth of a point from last week, driving No. 2 status in the demo for ABC with a 1.9 rating and a total viewers victory of 12.2 million.
Fox saw Bones and The Following each pull in a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49, though Bones was off two-tenths from the prior week. The network took in 5 million viewers.
Star-Crossed (0.3 adults) held up on the CW, while Tomorrow People (0.4 adults) shed a tenth of a point.
