Just after being the first woman honored with the 2014 Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, Jennifer Lopez sat down with Live! With Kelly and Michael in New York City to reflect on the accolade.

“Surreal,” she told Kelly Ripa and Michael Stahan on Monday of how she felt. “When they call you and tell you that you’re getting an honor like that, you’re just like, ‘Huh?’ It’s puzzling. You’re trudging along, you’re working, you’re doing your thing, and when they say, ‘We’re gonna recognize you for what you did,’ it’s pretty amazing. I was very humbled, to be quite honest.”
She added, “You strive to be great, you want to be the best. It’s a war out there, getting ready for the fight all the time! So it was an amazing moment.”
After sharing on her kids’ musical abilities, Lopez spoke on American Idol contender (and wildcard pick) Jena Irene, who blew her away with her rendition of Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” “She had a perfect moment … it’s the way she did it just took to another level for me.”
Who does she like better: Keith Urban or Harry Connick, Jr.? “I love both of them for different reasons. Keith is like cool, calm, voice of reason, and he really speaks from the heart,” she said, “and Harry, there’s such a duality to him. He’s the silliest, funniest guy you will ever meet, and he lvoes to paly around, and on the other hand, he’s super serious.”
She added of her former fellow judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler, “I miss them terribly … I fell in love with them. That first season made me come back for this season.”
