Melissa Gilbert is returning to ABC.
The Little House on the Prairie alum has boarded ABC’s midseason drama Secrets & Lies, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The drama, based on the Australian series starring Martin Henderson, centers on a father (Ryan Phillippe) who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a young boy when he finds the body. Juliette Lewis co-stars in the drama from ABC Studios and Aaron Kaplan‘s Kapital Entertainment.

Gilbert will play Lisa Daly, a loving and hardworking mom taking care of her two sons on her own. Although the character can be tightly wound, her inherent kindness lends to her being a very good nurse and mother even in the face of the difficulty of dealing with one son with autism and the other with his own issues.
The actress most recently competed on the network’s Dancing With the Stars, where she was the eighth contestant eliminated during season 14 in 2012. Her recent TV acting credits include TV movies The Christmas Pageant and Sacrifices of the Heart and episodes of Nip/Tuck, 7th Heaven and Touched by an Angel. She’s repped by Innovative.
ABC originally picked up Secrets & Lies with a hefty 10-episode series commitment last year. Private Practice‘s Barbie Kligman will oversee the drama alongside Kaplan and Tracey Robertson and Nathan Mayfield.
