Austin Wood and Jessica Smith have known each other since they were four and will finally be getting married next month (via NBC). Their mothers met at a support group; both Austin and Jessica have Down syndrome.

Wood proposed to Smith on Christmas with a ring that used to be his mother's. They plan on having a Western-themed wedding — they both love country music — and will be writing their own vows. "We both are really happy about getting married," says Wood. "I want to marry her because I love her. She's my very own best friend."

Their parents are just excited to see their children so happy. Smith's mother says her daughter has been judged for her disability her whole life, but she hopes her daughter and Wood are proving those assumptions wrong. They both had active high school lives, hold jobs, and live on their own. "You want total happiness for them," says Wood's mother. "And this is it."
