Doctor Who theme on Raspberry Pi Zero with IQaudIO Pi DAC Zero by Pi Synth published on 2016-02-06T11:03:04Z For comparison, the same sequence file as yesterday's upload, this time using the wonderful DAC Zero from IQaudIO, which allows the Zero to be a self-contained synth - MIDI keys straight into the single USB port (no keyboard / mouse mind you!) and audio out of I2S / I2C for pristine quality. No manual wind bubbles / clouds here, so you can focus on the instruments. The IQaudIO DAC fully assembled is some £15 and sounds absolutely IMMENSE. This is an analog recording, so some degradation will have happened - I am going out of the IQaudIO into a Behringer UCA 202 on my Mac via RCA jacks and very cheap cables, plus I think soundcloud performs a lossy compression on upload, even though I gave it a .aifc file. Still, this sounds marvelous and eliminates the USB hub from the setup.
