SACRAMENTO –
Following the death of Officer Roberto Sanchez, the flags at the California Capitol will be flown at half-staff.
Along with this sign of respect, Governor Brown shared his sorrow in a statement he released Saturday. “Anne and I extended our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Sanchez as they mourn this tragic loss,” said Governor Brown. “Californians will not forget Officer Sanchez’s service to his community and the sacrifice of the family he’s left behind.”
Officer Sanchez, 32, of Santa Ana, died in a car crash Saturday when his patrol car was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Harbor City. His partner is recovering in the hospital from serious injuries he obtained during the accident. Officer Sanchez is the third Los Angeles Police Department officer to be killed in a collision since March.
Officer Sanchez served at the Los Angeles Police Department for nearly six years. He is survived by his wife and his parents.
