If you thought that Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy has a kind of Star Wars vibe to it — what with the scum and villainy of the universe playing a role in saving the day armed only with moxie and humor, Han Solo-style — then prepare to feel that bond grow even stronger with a fan-cut trailer for the original Star Wars trilogy in the style of Guardians.
Mixing footage from Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi with music from the first couple of Guardians of the Galaxy trailers (Yes, that means you’re going to have Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” in your head all day again; damn that man for writing such a great riff), the recut by YouTube user “The Unusual Suspect” plays up the comedy from George Lucas’ original movies and just may have you wanting to rematch the trilogy one more time.
STORY New ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Trailer: Things Get Serious
J.J. Abrams, consider the bar raised — and now Guardians of the Galaxy seems just that little bit more exciting by proxy, as well. If “The Unusual Suspect” is a Disney mole secretly working to make the Internet more excited about upcoming movies from the corporate family of the Mouse, job well done.
Guardians of the Galaxy will be released Aug. 1, Star Wars: Episode VII in December 2015. Watch the video below and then check out your DVDs of the original Star Wars trilogy again.
