Mason Johnson was considered dead last month, according to paramedics. Tuesday, Mason was reunited with those same paramedics who helped bring him back to life.

Mason, just 2 years old, was eating breakfast with his parents one morning at their Fair Oaks home when he wandered off. His parents found him face down in the bottom of their pool.

“I just ran straight in and jumped in, picked him up,” Mason’s father, Dwight Johnson, told FOX40.

Metro Fire paramedics arrived within two minutes, but found no pulse or heartbeat – for 25 minutes.

“When I grabbed Mason, he was pulseless. For a better terminology, he was dead,” Metro Fire paramedic Mike Binion said. “He was completely dead.”

Mason shouldn’t have made it, but he did. Mason underwent intensive care at UC Davis Medical Center for a month, and got to meet the paramedics that helped save his life.

“A lot of people didn’t think he was gonna make it, but he showed us he had big plans on this earth,” mother Crystal Johnson said.

Mason is on the road to recovery but first, he needs speech and cognitive therapy. To help Mason, click here.
