After six seasons, Star Wars: The Clone Wars came to an end earlier this year, but not all of the stories planned for the series ended up making it to the screen. In a new video from Lucasfilm, the show’s producers talk about three such missing stories — and where they ended up being told.
As Pablo Hidalgo, member of Lucasfilm’s Story Group — which tracks the wider mythology of the franchise outside the movies — points out, Star Wars: The Clone Wars holds an important place in the franchise. “It’s the last expansion of the Star Wars universe that came directly from George Lucas,” he says in the video. Even though the television series has ended, replaced by Star Wars: Rebels — which launches online Sept. 24 ahead of its broadcast debut Oct. 13 — the stories it created will live on in different formats.

“Even though those Clone Wars episodes did not get publicly revealed, we still look at those core stories as having happened [in the larger canon],” he explains. To that end, all three will be shared with the core Star Wars fanbase, whether as comic books (Star Wars: Son of Dathomir, published by Dark Horse Comics earlier this year), novels (Star Wars: Dark Disciple, which will be published by Del Rey next year), or even story reels on StarWars.com (“Crystal Crisis on Utapau,” as seen in the video itself).
