AUBURN-
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office say a reported kidnapping attempt Wednesday evening at a Dollar Store was just a misunderstanding.
Deputies say the man spoke with detectives and said he bumped into a 4-year-old boy when he had his hands full. He then took the child’s hand and helped him up, but investigators say the boy’s grandfather misunderstood what was going on and chased the man out of the store.
Detectives say they believe they had no intention of kidnapping or harming the child.
