USA Network‘s upcoming event series Dig has cast its female lead.
Emmy-nominee Anne Heche has booked the co-starring role in the cable network’s six-episode limited series, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Dig, from Universal Cable Productions, centers on Peter (Awake’s Jason Isaacs), an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating the murder of an archeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2,000 years in the making that threatens to change the course of history.

Heche will play Lynn, the head of the Jerusalem FBI office and Peter’s boss. She’s also his only friend and love interest. Despite her sense of humor and soft side, Lynn is tough and isn’t afraid to take her team — including Peter — to task when they slip up.
From Tim Kring (Heroes) and Gideon Raff (Homeland), Dig hails from Universal Cable Productions and was developed by Keshet in association with Gail Berman and Gen Stein of Tecumseh Productions. The series will shoot in Jerusalem and other international locations for a premiere on USA in late 2014.

Heche most recently starred on NBC’s comedy Save Me and the feature Arthur Newman. Her credits include Wag the Dog, Cedar Rapids, Hung, Men in Trees and Gracie’s Choice, which earned her an Emmy nomination for supporting actress in a mini or movie. She’s currently exec producing NBC’s Kate Walsh comedy pilot Bad Judge. Heche is repped by UTA, Untitled and Morris Yorn.
