This week, New York’s iconic [Bow Tie Cinemas] Ziegfeld Theatre, located at 141 W. 54th St. in Manhattan, will host “A Film Retrospective Celebrating the Creative Collaboration of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio.” The legendary director and actor have teamed up on five films since 2002: Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). For the most recent of those, DiCaprio has been nominated for the best actor Oscar, Scorsese has been nominated for the best director Oscar and the film itself has been nominated for the best picture Oscar.
The 45-year-old movie palace, which seats 1,131 people, will screen The Aviator, The Departed and Wolf on Feb. 13 and Shutter Island and Gangs on Feb. 14, all in the DCIP Digital format. Between the screenings of The Departed and Wolf, DiCaprio will participate in a panel conversation, moderated by New York Film Festival director Kent Jones, along with Thelma Schoonmaker, who has edited all five Scorsese-DiCaprio films, and Terence Winter, who adapted Jordan Belfort’s memoir The Wolf of Wall Street into a screenplay of the same name, for which he has received a best adapted screenplay Oscar nomination.
Tickets for the event are still available at the Ziegfeld box office and online.
Just last week, on Feb. 7, Scorsese and DiCaprio participated in a joint Q&A about their longtime partnership at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. When the Ziegfeld Q&A takes place, however, Scorsese will be out of the country to screen his latest film — a not-yet-titled documentary about The New York Review of Books — at the Berlin Film Festival.
