Beresford Egan's Flowers of Evil

(Find me at 50 Watts Books.)

In a 2006 post, Giornale Nuovo accurately labeled Beresford Egan "the Art Deco Beardsley."

I featured Egan (1905–1984) in January 2009 and recently two people requested a follow-up to that post (this never happens). So here are my scans from a 1947 US Sylvan Press edition of Flowers of Evil. I think the original issue from Sophistocles Press had some color.

It took me awhile to warm up to Egan's style, but his exaggerated phalanges and perverted little servants finally won me over. I just ordered a copy of the Tartarus Press retrospective.

Featured in my Jan 2009 post on Egan. I don't have this edition.
