As Myers sat with pen in hand and a thank you card on his brand-new desk, the familiar piano tune of Fallon’s signature “Thank You Notes” segment started to play.
STORY: Inside Seth Meyers’ ‘Late Night’ Debut
“Thank you, Jimmy Fallon, for taking over The Tonight Show at 11:30 so I could take over Late Night at 12:30. I promise to treat it with respect and dignity, and to only use it to do completely original comedy pieces…” Meyers said, his voice trailing off. “Starting now.”
Since Fallon began his Tonight Show run Feb. 17, he has carried over several of his Late Night greatest hits, including the fan-favorite “Thank You Notes,” which were featured on the Feb. 21 show.
