PLACER COUNTY-

A man from Auburn allegedly agreed to meet up with a 13-year-old girl for a sexual rendezvous in the Placer County Jail parking lot.

However, instead of a 13-year-old girl waiting for him, it was a few Placer County detectives.

According to the Placer County Sheriffs Department, on Tuesday afternoon, Daniel Eugene Kirschner, 28, of Auburn, became the fourth suspect since February who has been arrested after placing an online ad that was answered by a Placer County Sheriff’s detective posing as a 13-year-old girl.

Kirschner posted an ad seeking a girlfriend on a popular website, investigators said. He did not stop responding to the emails when he learned the “girl” on the other end was 13. The detective exchanged emails with Kirschner for a week.

Detectives, still posing as the 13-year-old, told Kirschner he could meet with her, saying the girl was there with her mother, for her mother’s boyfriend’s court appearance. Kirschner went to the jail without hesitation, and was confronted and arrested by detectives as soon as he arrived. Detectives then walked him into the jail.

Kirschner bailed out of jail on Wednesday morning. His bail was set at $100,000.
