SAN FRANCISCO-

The San Francisco Giants lost their first home game in the World Series. But here was no shortage of spirit and crazy fan rituals and superstitions at AT&T Park.

“Every year, we have a hat party at spring training and I got to wear it today,” one fan said. She and her girlfriends took baseball figurine cake decorations, paint them, and stuck them onto their ball caps to make homemade one of a kind hats.

Another man painted his entire upper half of his body with orange and blue paint. He told is, he did the same during the 2010 World Series, and saw great success there, so he maintains the tradition.

Another man wearing an orange tuxedo taught me how to do what he called “the Giants Dance,” which was a combination of the “sprinkler” and the “Posey call.” He said it works to pump up the crowds.

Many loyal Giants fans did mingle with some of the Royals fans though. They acknowledged the friendly competition and even complemented Kansas City fans for  coming all the way from their homes to visit their city.

“We love Kansas City fans, except when it comes to baseball,” a Giants fan said whole embracing a Royals fans in line. “Frenemies, absolutely.”

We found a couple, a husband and wearing a Royals shirt, and his wife sporting an orange cardigan. While some passerbys joked, “it won’t last!” The happy couple said they have celebrated their anniversary 15 times, despite their opposing baseball fandom.

Games 4 and 5 continue at San Francisco. You can watch them on FOX40 at 5:07PM.
