Last week was all about Comic-Con, with four trailers introduced in San Diego drawing more than 10 million views apiece. This week is all about the art house, with two specialty films debuting in the top three.
Finishing first was the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything trailer No. 1 with 5.1 million YouTube views, according to technology firm Zefr, which tracks the results.
The Working Title film, which is being distributed in the U.S. by Focus Features, stars (an altogether too pretty) Eddie Redmayne as Hawking and (an even prettier) Felicity Jones as his wife Jane. Find it in theaters starting Nov. 7.
The look of this trailer is all A Beautiful Mind with a heap of Chariots of Fire inspiration thrown in. Or think Rocky with math.

Finishing third was the trailer for Camp X-Ray, starring Kristen Stewart. This film, which premiered at Sundance, but opens wide on Oct. 17, is about an idealistic soldier (Stewart) who is assigned to the prison at Guantanamo Bay, where she starts doubting her mission. The trailer drew 3.4 million YouTube views.
In the fifth spot was the debut trailer for Left Behind, starring Nicholas Cage as a pilot caught up in the Rapture. The movie reboots the 2000 Kirk Cameron movie of the same name (which took in just $4.2 million at the box office) and, like the original, is based on the best-selling 16-book series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins.
The end times are certainly cool in pop culture now. Besides this movie, there is HBO’s The Leftovers and ABC’s Resurrection.
The last of the four new trailers to debut in the top 10 is Guillermo del Toro’s animated feature Book of Life, which garnered 1.7 million views to finish in the seventh spot. The story about a prince (voiced by Channing Tatum) who must undergo a series of fantastical adventures to prove himself to a princess (Zoe Saldana, voicing a very modern Brave-esque character) has a wild Latin American-influenced look that is visually stunning. Del Toro’s aesthetic is made for animation and this movie looks like it will appeal to adults as well as children. It arrives in theaters on Oct. 17.
Among returning trailers, Fifty Shades of Grey finished second with 4.9 million views for an impressive three-week total of 53.1 million. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies fell from first to fourth with 2.9 million views and 23 million lifetime. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 fell from second to eighth with 1.6 million views and 16.8 million lifetime.
