State lawmakers voted Wednesday night to send a $7.5 billion water bond to November’s ballot.
It was approved unanimously by the State Senate, and by a 77-1 vote in the Assembly. Asm. Tim Donnelly (R-Twin Peaks) was the lone dissenting vote.
Wednesday big dispute was the amount of money designated for new reservoirs. Republicans wound up getting nearly $3 billion for water storage.
Lawmakers say the bond also addresses groundwater management and other investments designed to protect California’s water supply during prolonged droughts.
This bond would replace an $11 billion bond written in 2009.
