Settle in for several months of Sunday Night Football ending the weekend on a high note for NBC. During its second week of the NFL season, the network again won the night by every key measure thanks to the big game.
The San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears were the night’s main event, averaging a 14.0 rating and 23 share among households in the 56 metered markets. That’s down a shade from last week’s comparable preliminary numbers, but up a tick from game two of last season — despite the handsome lead the 49ers had going into the second half.
Football was also a boon to CBS, with overage driving primetime’s showings of Big Brother and the two-hour Unforgettable finale. (Adjusted numbers for those episodes will be available later, along with the finals for football.)
On ABC, the Miss America pageant fell from last year’s highs. It averaged a 1.5 rating among adults 18-49, down half of a point from 2013, and pulled in 6.7 million viewers.
