The ABC competition Dancing With the Stars fell 23 percent from last fall — but returned just below the spring cycle
The fall season, slowly kicking into gear, brought the return of Dancing With the Stars on Monday night. ABC’s veteran reality competition pulled an average 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 and 13.6 million viewers — easily topping broadcast offerings in both measures.
For DWTS, seeing as steady of a decline as most reality flagships in recent years, the return did mark a premiere low in the key demo. Off just two-tenths of a point from its latest iteration, it dropped 23 percent from last fall.
It was enough for ABC to share demo victory for the night with Fox. Two hours of MasterChef clocked a 2.0 rating with adults under 50, up two-tenths from the previous week. NBC also aired American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. The World (1.8 adults) for a full three hours. It was steady with the most recent special in the Ninja franchise.
Ahead of next week’s season finale, CBS’ Under the Dome (1.6 adults) improved two-tenths of a point. And on The CW, America’s Next Top Model (0.4 adults) held steady.
