Going up against NBC’s winning Sunday Night Football, CBS’ crop of originals will likely see some adjustment thanks to their own NFL lead-in.
CBS’ overage had 60 Minutes, the premiere of Madam Secretary and The Good Wife all delayed on the East Coast. That said, the lofty lead-in proved especially good for 60 Minutes. Preliminary numbers give it the most-watched premiere (18.2 million viewers) since 1997. In the adults 18-49 demo, it took a 3.6 rating.
Madam Secretary, huge with 14.7 million viewers, saw a softer showing in the demo with a 2.0 rating with final adjustments now in. The Good Wife returned with 9.95 million viewers, its most-watched since 2011, but down from a year ago in the demo. The wealthy-skewing and DVR-friendly drama took a 1.3 rating with adults under 50.
As for Sunday Night Football, which will see its own fast nationals adjusted later as well, the metered-market results have the game down a touch from last week. It averaged a 12.3 rating among households and a 20 share. Among adults 18-49, where it will see a big lift in the finals, the game averaged a preliminary 7.2 rating.
Elsewhere on the Big Four, ABC and Fox both aired reruns — with the exception of a new American Dad (1.4 adults) on the latter, airing its last episode before moving to TBS.
