James Franco and Kate Hudson play good people who make a very bad decision in the aptly titled crime thriller Good People.
In the film’s first trailer, married couple Tom (Franco) and Anna (Hudson) hit dire financial straits and face foreclosure on their home. Their fate changes when their tenant dies in his basement apartment, and Tom and Anna stumble on his cash-filled duffle bag before the cops do.

“This could be really bad money,” Anna warns her husband. “The people make it bad, not the money,” Tom replies. Seems like sound logic, no?
Trouble ensues when a baddie played by Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past) decides that he wants the money, too. Tom Wilkinson plays a cop who hatches a plan to help the couple.
“Didn’t you know when you find a pot of gold, there’s always a monster guarding it?” Sy tells the couple ominously. Clearly, he’s much scarier than a leprechaun.

Good People marks Danish director Henrik Genz‘s English-language film debut. The script was written by Before the Devil Knows Your Dead screenwriter Kelly Masterson, based on the novel of the same name by Marcus Sakey.
Franco currently stars in indie drama Palo Alto, while Hudson co-stars in Zach Braff‘s Kickstarter-funded dramedy Wish I Was Here, hitting theaters in July.
Eagle Films will release Good People later this year.
